Before we go on repairing
finishes, we must identify what are the possibleproblems/damages in your
finishes.First is Superficial Damage which can be in the form of light
scratching, light cracking or dullness of the finish. Next is damage to the
color finish and color in the wood and lastly damage through the finish and
into the wood itself in the form of deep scratches or gouges.
Superficial Damage can be repaired
by rubbing the surface using steel wool to eliminate the dullness of the finish.
For the damages of the color finish and the color in the wood,
it can be repaired by applying another topcoat of the original finish to omit
this problem.Take note: Before applying
another topcoat it is recommended to sand the original finish to form sanding
marks for better adhesion property and prevent from delaminating. Lastly for the damages through the finish and
into the wood itself in the form of deep scratches or gouges. These can be
repaired by sanding the original finish from 100 grit to 240 grit until the
original finish will remove then you can apply the desired topcoat as you can
see in the picture below.
As you can see in the image
no. 1 which shows a deep scratches and delamination of the finish, by applying
sanding methods and SPARKO SURFACE COATINGS it will look elegant and new like
in image no. 2
